Nina Lou Ferraro, 98, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 14, 2024. She was born on July 3, 1925 in Gibson County, Indiana to the late Frank Dillon and Daisy Ailene (Coates) Dillon.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and Past President of VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She volunteered at St. Francis Hospital for over 30 years.
Nina was a teachers aide at Central Catholic School for over 21 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, going out to eat, especially when she got to go to Cheddar’s, Olive Garden or Cracker Barrel. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, and reading the newspaper, which she did daily.
Nina leaves behind to treasure her memory, her two daughters, Dr. Maria R. (Bob) Hayes and Cathy Merrell; five grandchildren, Maggie (Matt) Hayes-Garcia, Rob Hayes, Eric (Ashlee) Bouvier, Emily (Zach Dickinson) Bouvier, and Ashley (Lea McAlister) Merrell; four great grandchildren, Amelia and Alex Garcia, Addy and Lyla Dickinson; brother, Jack Dillon and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard M. Ferraro; daughter, Patricia L. Bouvier and three siblings, Geraldine Grey, Frank Dillon, and Lester Dillon.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2905 Carson Avenue, Indianapolis, with additional visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. She will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Nina’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
