Conner Prairie has been nominated as one of the best museums in the country for USAToday/10Best reader's poll.

The outdoor museum located in Fishers was nominated for Best Open Air Museum by a panel of industry experts and editors at USA TODAY/10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

The living history museum announced in October that would be planning a 260-acre expansion in Carmel along the White River to add an education center, farming experience, conference center, restaurant, hotel and cabins, cafes and other commercial businesses as well as paths and walking trails.

While the plans originally upset neighbors of the property, a compromise has recently been met so everyone involved (at least most everyone) is now content for the project to move forward.
