Winter weather bringing freezing temperatures across the US: See photos
Many Americans are expected to enjoy a three-day weekend due to the MLK Day holiday, but they will likely spend it bundled up. Winter weather is stifling much of the U.S. and impacting millions.
The arctic blast is bringing with it freezing temperatures as well as power outages, dangerous conditions and travel headaches. It has even led the NFL to postpone a playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers until Monday. It was originally set for Sunday. The Bills even asked for volunteers to help shovel snow in Highmark Stadium in New York ahead of the wild-card playoff game.
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins playoff game, which the Chiefs won, still went on Saturday as players and fans braved the frigid cold conditions. It was so cold that the helmet of Chiefs' quarterback Patrick Mahomes cracked after a hit.
The freezing temperatures are expected to linger for a few days.
A map from the National Weather Service shows that the winter weather is affecting just about every state. It's safe to say that the polar vortex is being felt all across the U.S.
