Does this Indiana bakery chain have the best donuts in America? Voters said 'Yes'.

A popular doughnut chain with five locations in the Indianapolis area got a sweet nod Wednesday. The Underground Donut Tour (quite possibly the most delicious tour we've ever heard about), recently announced its list of "America's Best Donuts" in a contest meant to highlight and celebrate the greatest pastries in the country.

Among the 2023 contest winners included Rise'n Roll Bakery, which has locations in Broad Ripple, Fishers, Greenwood, downtown Indianapolis and Avon. Out of 22 listed awards, the Middlebury-based Indiana chain earned nine titles.

Pastries from Rise'n Roll Bakery delighted the sweet-tooths of voters, according to the Underground Donut Tour, who announced its cinnamon caramel doughnut was voted the greatest cinnamon sugar doughnut in America, as well as "overall fan favorite."

To celebrate, Rise'n Roll will offer free cinnamon caramel doughnuts in its stores June 2 on National Donut Day while supplies last, according to a social media post on the company's official Facebook page.

In addition to earning such delicious accolades, voters said Rise'n Roll's red velvet doughnut was the "Greatest Cake Donut" in America. Its Boston Cream earned the distinction of being the "Greatest Cream-filled Donut," and Rise'n Roll's lemon jelly-filled doughnut was the nation's "Greatest Jelly-Filled Donut."

Voters also said Rise'n Roll had the greatest old fashioned doughnuts in America, the greatest unique flavors of doughnuts, greatest toppings, and greatest yeast doughnut as well.
