7 big Christmas light displays in and around Indianapolis in 2023

As far as Hoosier Christmas traditions go, the more lights, the merrier. Big attractions across Indianapolis and beyond deliver up increasing numbers of glimmers each year, and 2023 is no different.

Travel on foot or in your car to take in glittering tunnels, creatures, candy canes, a disco stage and more for these seven attractions.

Christmas Nights of Lights

Nov. 10-Dec. 31. Indiana State Fairgrounds, Gate 12, 1698 E. 42nd St. Cost is $30-$75 per carload, depending on the number of people. Advanced tickets required. christmasnightsoflights.com

Music, lights and enchanted Christmas trees will dazzle those driving through the fairgrounds.

Holidays at the Hill

Nov. 18-Jan. 8. Federal Hill Commons, 175 Logan St. in Noblesville. Paid admission required for some activities. noblesvilleparks.org

A walkable lights display is part of the festivities, which include an Ice Plaza, carriage rides and a holiday market.

Winterlights

A record-setting number of lights — almost 2 million — are shining across the art and nature campus. New this year are a concert series, a variety show and a new twist on the Landscape of Light.

Reynolds light display

The thousands of lights are part of "A Merry Prairie Holiday," which will include sock-skating and a 3D projection mapping of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" on the William Conner House.

Christmas at the Zoo

Lights will gleam across several spots, including the reopened White River Gardens and Polar Pathway. Make sure to meet the royal Ice Princess and prankster Jack Frost and explore a snow-globe-feeling village.

Indianapolis Christmas Carnival

Along with a light show synchronized to music, you'll see a bunch of experiences, including DJ Frosty hosting a disco dance stage, a creepy fun house, Jack Skellington and the Green Meanie's cave. Just know that if you meet the latter, he'll send you down the garbage chute after you take a photo with him.

The Lighted Trail

Starts Dec. 3. Greenwood Amphitheater, 300 S. Washington St. in Greenwood. Free. greenwood.in.gov
