Purdue basketball is looking for a bounce-back when Penn State visits.

The No. 1 Boilermakers (14-2, 3-2) faltered late in the first half against Nebraska and couldn't fully recover. The Cornhuskers made over 60% of their 3-pointers and largely contained Zach Edey and Braden Smith.

Purdue team leaders: Zach Edey (21.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.3 blocked shots); Braden Smith (12.8 points, 47.2% on 3-pointers, 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1.8 steals); Fletcher Loyer (11.0 points, 41.1% on 3s); Lance Jones (11.1 points, 1.3 steals).

The Nittany Lions (8-7, 2-2) played Northwestern on Wednesday night. They beat Michigan and got blown out by Michigan State the previous week. Mike Rhoades is in his first season as coach.

Penn State team leaders: Kanye Clary (18.4 points, 36.2% 3-pointers); Ace Baldwin Jr. (13.6 points, 4.3 assists).

Purdue beat Penn State three times last season and has won seven in a row in the series, and 16 of the past 17. The Nittany Lions won in West Lafayette in 2020.
