SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- Pacers guard Bruce Brown and forward Aaron Nesmith will sit out Monday night's game against the Jazz with injuries, coach Rick Carlisle said in his pre-game press conference.

Both players were listed as questionable on Monday's injury report. Brown has been dealing with a bone bruise in his right knee for most of the season and he missed five games in late December and earlier this month. He scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on Sunday against the Nuggets, but the Pacers opted to sit him out on the second night of a back-to-back. He also sat out the second night of a back-to-back on Jan. 6.

Nesmith is missing his second straight game with bilateral shin soreness. Brown and Nesmith are two of the Pacers' top defenders, which could be a problem against a Utah team coming off five straight wins and victories in eight of their last nine games. Brown is averaging 12.1 points per game and Nesmith 11.8.

Wings Bennedict Mathurin and Buddy Hield started in place of Brown and Nesmith next to point guard Andrew Nembhard, forward Jalen Smith and center Myles Turner. The injuries will likely mean guard Ben Sheppard and forward Jordan Nwora will have to play much more extended minutes than usual.
