Why Pascal Siakam could be someone who can 'just go get it' for the Pacers

The Indiana Pacers are reportedly in talks to potentially trade for Toronto forward Pascal Siakam.

The two-time All-Star is averaging 22.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists for the Raptors, who entered Tuesday night 11th in the Eastern Conference standings.

Siakam has long been seen as a good fit for the Pacers, who don't have a clear No. 2 scoring option behind Tyrese Haliburton.

Former Pacer C.J. Miles joined NBA reporter Alex Kennedy's podcast last month and discussed the match Siakam and Pacers could be.

"Indiana's interesting because Indiana does not have a guy (at a forward position) that's like, 'Here, go get that bucket for me right now,'” Miles said. "They're playing with so much pace, and they share the ball well. There's going to come a time when you need someone to put that cape on."

Miles noted the need for more scoring options in the playoffs, when teams can better scheme against opponents with one dominant offensive option.

"You're going to need guys, who everything's been taken away, can just go get it," he said.

Haliburton almost certainly will earn his second straight NBA All-Star berth this season, averaging 23.6 points and 12.5 assists per game. Seven other Pacers average in double figures, led by Myles Turner's 17.2.
